Capture Your Grief - Day 5: Memorial

Day 5: Memorial

I didn't have a body to cremate or bury with Taylor.  With Seth I did.  However, I didn't want to just let Taylor go undocumented.  I wanted her existence to be written for anyone and everyone to see.  I wanted both of my babies recorded in history somehow.  So, as I ordered Seth's grave stone, I added a line on it that recognized Taylor, too.
It just arrived yesterday with a board above and below, Styrofoam all around it, cardboard on the corners, and metal straps holding the boards to it.  This sucker is heavy!!  I don't want to take all the protecting stuff off of it, so I took a picture of it in the Styrofoam with the plastic protective piece still on it (hence, those lines are the plastic, not cracks in the stone).

A neighbor that has been helping me with sewing projects for the Memory Boxes I am putting together said she used to help with engraving headstones and would happily add the Star Trek emblem to it for me.  I'm guessing I'll put it in the top right corner.

I don't know if I can have someone set the stone now or when.  I don't know how cold the ground is and if you can set it in concrete when the ground is cold to frozen.  But, by the time Seth's birthday comes around next year, surely we'll have it set above him.  It'll be nice to have his grave marked, have a place to go where my babies' names are both written and recorded for the world.  I love my babies.

As Keith was leaving for school, he saw the stone.  He stared at it for a while and said, "I wish we had two more babies."

Love. Most cemeteries will let you set gravestones from April-October. I'm assuming if you contact them you should be able to get it set this month.
